Start College Research List

Begin researching colleges that match your interests, budget, and goals. Use tools like College Scorecard, Niche, and BigFuture. Aim for a balanced list: 3-4 reach, 3-4 match, 2-3 safety schools.

Request Letters of Recommendation

Ask teachers, counselors, and mentors for letters of recommendation. Give them at least 4-6 weeks. Provide them with your resume and a reminder of the deadline.

Common App Opens

The Common Application opens August 1. Start your personal essay, fill in activities, and begin submitting when ready. Early applications show demonstrated interest.

Early Action / Early Decision Deadline

Most Early Action and Early Decision applications are due November 1 or November 15. Double-check each school's specific deadline. Submit a few days early to avoid technical issues.

Regular Decision Applications Due

Most Regular Decision deadlines fall between January 1-15. Submit all remaining applications. Confirm that transcripts, test scores, and recommendations have been sent.

College Decision Day

May 1 is the national college decision deadline. Accept your offer, submit your enrollment deposit, and notify other schools you won't be attending. Congratulations!

Send Final Transcript

Request that your high school send your final transcript to your chosen college after graduation. Most colleges require this before enrollment is finalized.

College Orientation Registration

Register for your college orientation session. These fill up fast — earlier dates usually have better course selection. Mark the date and plan travel if needed.
