The NHL Entry Draft runs over two days on the last weekend of June. Round 1 on Friday evening, Rounds 2-7 on Saturday. Key for fantasy managers tracking prospects.

NHL Free Agency Opens

Free agency opens at noon ET on July 1. Teams can sign unrestricted free agents. One of the most exciting days of the NHL offseason.

NHL Training Camps Open

NHL training camps open, typically around mid-September. Roster battles begin, and fantasy hockey managers get their first look at line combinations.

NHL Preseason Begins

Preseason games begin. Watch for line combinations, rookie performances, and goalie battles. Fantasy hockey drafts should be wrapping up.

NHL Regular Season Begins

The NHL regular season kicks off on the second Tuesday of October. 82 games per team through April. (Some seasons begin a few days earlier with a Global Series game in Europe.)

NHL All-Star Weekend

NHL All-Star Weekend, featuring the Skills Competition and All-Star Game. Date varies year to year, usually late January or early February. The NHL skips All-Star Weekend in seasons with the Olympics or international tournaments — confirm against the official NHL schedule before making plans.

NHL Trade Deadline

Last chance for teams to make trades before the playoffs — always a Friday in early March (1st or 2nd Friday). Can significantly impact fantasy rosters; check the official NHL date and your league trade deadline settings.

NHL Regular Season Ends

Final games of the regular season. Playoff seeding and wild card races decided. Usually mid-April.
